macOS language guide

Add languages on macOS

For a language Apple already supports for speech recognition, downloading a matching macOS system voice can make that language available in TCVoiceAI.

    Confirm Apple recognition support

    The exact language and region must be supported by Apple Speech Recognition. macOS does not let apps install arbitrary recognition languages.

  2. 2

    Open the macOS voice settings

    Choose Apple menu > System Settings > Accessibility > Read & Speak. On some macOS versions this section is named Spoken Content.

  3. 3

    Download a matching system voice

    Open System Voice details or Manage Voices, choose the same language and region, then download a voice and wait for the download to finish.

  4. 4

    Reopen TCVoiceAI

    Quit and reopen the macOS app. It rebuilds its language list and includes locales available for both recognition and speech output.

Adding only a keyboard input source or a Preferred Language does not add a language to TCVoiceAI. If it still does not appear after downloading a voice and reopening the app, Apple Speech Recognition does not currently expose that exact locale on your Mac.
