Compatible macOS calling apps

Translate calls in compatible calling apps on macOS

TCVoiceAI detects supported calling apps installed on your Mac and shows app-specific microphone and speaker steps. Use the same audio route for Translated voice, Original audio, same-language transcription, or normal background pass-through.

One-sided setup: Only your Mac needs this routing setup. Once the virtual devices are selected, the background helper can pass normal audio through while the main app is idle or closed, reducing the need to change microphone and speaker settings. It does not recognize, record, store, analyze, or upload speech.

Setup steps

What a calling app needs to support.

Open Calling app setup

Select an installed app in TCVoiceAI Settings to see the route and exact menu steps for that app.

Set both virtual devices

The calling app must accept TCVoiceAI Mic as input and TCVoiceAI Speaker as output. FaceTime can be configured automatically with Accessibility permission.

Confirm physical hardware

Choose the real microphone and speaker or headphones TCVoiceAI should use on your side.

Start or leave pass-through idle

Start translation or transcription in the main app. When idle or closed, the helper can keep normal audio flowing through the selected routes.

Translate FaceTime calls on Mac

TCVoiceAI shows the manual FaceTime route and can select TCVoiceAI Mic and Speaker automatically when Accessibility permission is granted. If permission or menu state changes, the app returns clear setup guidance.

Translate WhatsApp Web calls on Mac

To translate WhatsApp calls on Mac, use WhatsApp Web in a compatible browser when the native WhatsApp app does not expose both virtual audio routes. Select TCVoiceAI Mic and TCVoiceAI Speaker for the browser call before starting translation.

Translate Google Meet calls on Mac

In Google Meet audio settings, select TCVoiceAI Mic as the microphone and TCVoiceAI Speaker as the speaker. Confirm that the browser lists and accepts both devices before joining the meeting.

Translate Zoom calls on Mac

In Zoom audio settings, select TCVoiceAI Mic under Microphone and TCVoiceAI Speaker under Speaker, then test both devices before starting real-time call translation.

Translate Microsoft Teams calls on Mac

In Microsoft Teams device settings, choose TCVoiceAI Mic as the microphone and TCVoiceAI Speaker as the speaker. Use Teams' test call where available and confirm both routes before the conversation.

Translate Slack Huddles on Mac

For Slack Huddles translation on Mac, select TCVoiceAI Mic and TCVoiceAI Speaker in Slack's Audio & video settings, then keep Slack and TCVoiceAI open during the conversation.

Translate Discord voice calls on Mac

In Discord Voice & Video settings, choose TCVoiceAI Mic as the Input Device and TCVoiceAI Speaker as the Output Device. Run Discord's microphone test and verify the output route before joining a voice call.

Translate Webex calls on Mac

In Webex audio settings, select TCVoiceAI Mic from the microphone menu and TCVoiceAI Speaker from the speaker menu, then use the built-in tests to confirm both routes.

Translate Messenger browser calls on Mac

Messenger browser call translation can work when the browser version lets you choose and use both virtual devices. Confirm the selected microphone and speaker before starting the call.

Translate Telegram calls on Mac

Telegram Desktop calls can work when the current version lists and accepts both TCVoiceAI virtual devices in its call settings. Test both translation directions before relying on that version for a live call.

Translate Zalo calls on Mac

Zalo call translation can work when the exact desktop or web version lets you choose and use both virtual devices. Test that version before relying on it for a live conversation.

Use a suggested reply in the call

In Translated voice, review an intelligent reply suggestion and choose Speak to partner so the translated response follows the same TCVoiceAI Mic route.

Compatibility, not official integration

If a native app does not expose both virtual audio routes, use its web version when available. These names are representative examples; compatibility depends on current audio-device controls, and no affiliation or endorsement is implied.

From the macOS app

The same routing flow works across compatible apps.

Keep the call in a compatible app people already use; TCVoiceAI does not require moving everyone to a separate translation calling service.
Select TCVoiceAI Mic in the calling app or browser call when translated local speech should enter the call.
Select TCVoiceAI Speaker in the calling app or browser call when partner audio should be sent back to TCVoiceAI for translation.
Your partner can join normally because TCVoiceAI works from your side of the call.
Translated voice speaks each translation aloud. Original audio keeps real voices live and can save bilingual or same-language History for user-requested AI conversation output.
An approved reply suggestion can use Speak to partner in Translated voice. In Original audio, the suggestion remains private guidance.
Transcription-only same-language sessions do not send translation requests or consume translated-word allowance.
The calling-app guide lists detected supported apps, opens their settings, and shows both required public audio devices.
FaceTime automatic setup requires Accessibility permission; manual instructions remain available.
The routing-only background helper can keep normal calls working while the main app is idle or closed, so you do not need to reselect physical audio devices for every call.
The helper does not run speech recognition, transcription, translation, recording, storage, content analysis, upload, or server requests.
Do not select TCVoiceAI Mic Feed or TCVoiceAI Speaker Tap in calling apps, because those are internal endpoints.
If a native calling app does not let you choose and use the virtual microphone and speaker/output devices, use the web version in a browser when that service provides one.
