Public audio devices
Calling apps should select TranslateChatVoice Mic and TranslateChatVoice Speaker, the two user-facing devices exposed for translated calls.
Virtual microphone translator
Translate Chat Voice uses app-owned virtual audio devices so translated speech can enter a calling app as microphone audio. The public devices are TranslateChatVoice Mic for outgoing translated speech and TranslateChatVoice Speaker for incoming partner audio.
Setup steps
The macOS app listens to your selected physical microphone only after you start translation.
Recognized text, language direction, and bounded context are sent to the server for translation.
macOS text-to-speech creates audio and sends it to TranslateChatVoice Mic, which the calling app sees as its microphone.
The calling app sends partner audio to TranslateChatVoice Speaker so the app can translate it back to your selected output device.
